One thing that I should probably mention, maybe. I mean, I guess. Not sure I even remember now...hmmm...OHHH yes!
ELDEVIN CAME OUT!
Yep. the game I've been working on since graduation from university (that would be *gulp* seven years) is finally out. As to why it took that long - huge MMO, teeny tiny team, many learning curves and backtracks and reworks along the way but we got there in the end. We've made a fully browser based, free, fantasy MMORPG from the ground up, custom in-house engine and everything, and for a personal score I've done a heck of a lot of concept art, almost all spell and skill icons, redesigned and remade the entire user interface from the ground up (that last one was a mammoth task on its own, in case you can't guess) and am still working on the website design. The in-progress version is linked above.
I'm also currently working on an art book, which is proving to be a much bigger job than I anticipated. It's funny how easy it is to forget just how much work you've done when it's spread out over a few years, but it certainly adds up!
Anyway, if you like fantasy MMORPGs I'd love it if you gave Eldevin a try. Like I said, it's fully browser based (although we are working on a downloadable client which we are hoping to get launched on Steam Greenlight) so it doesn't have the graphical punch of WoW or GW2, but it does run on almost any machine, requires no downloads, and it's completely unlimited access for free - no level cap or restricted areas. I'm going to give you a referall link so you will get some Loyalty currency when you first sign up that you can use to buy yourself a little present.
If you try it, I hope you love it! My developer nickname is PhurieDae, so add me as a friend and say hi if you see me online!
In other news, Pika-la-Cynique has a new graphic novel out, Alyssa! Those of you who are following me because of GND will already know this, but for those who dont: It hit the bookshelves in France last week and Pika has a few English translated pages up in her gallery. It's French-language, absolutely gorgeous and colourful and of course beautifully drawn, so if you speak French or want to brush up on your skills, hop over to that link and check it out! If not, you could do Pika a solid and give the trailer a wee thumbs up? It's adorable even if you don't understand what's being said in it.
BUT WAIT. THERE'S MORE! I'm sorry for all the link spamming in this journal. I just happen to have more terribly talented friends who deserve what little publicity I can give them. A few of you asked about a release date for Entreat Me, which I did the cover art for some time ago.
Well, the ebook is now out on Amazon and Smashwords! Grace sent me an ARC and holy crap, it's wonderful. I literally couldn't put it down until I absolutely had to sleep (because I physically couldn't stay awake, not because I had to get up the next day) and then I didn't make it out of my pajamas until I'd finished it the next day. It's that good. And it's a whopping $3, so if you like well written characters, fairytale retellings that manage to make magic and curses feel well grounded and realistic, and a damn well written romance with simmering tension then, well, you need this book. One thing I see repeated in Grace's reviews is, "I don't even like fantasy romance and I loved this!" She really is just excellent at hooking you to characters until you have to find out how their story ends. I'm so proud and gleeful that my work gets to be on the cover of this book. She's also working on a print edition which I've already done the cover flat for, so I'll let you know when that's out!
I hope you all had a fabulous Christmas and New Year! I had a much needed, much appreciate break that has left me feeling fresh and motivated for the year ahead. I've got some new paintings on the go and have blown the cobwebs off some older ones. I think my New Year's aim should be - less drudge work and stress, more personal art and fun. I'm working on it! So far January is going lovely and slow even though I've packed some fun stuff in already, so it's good start!
Catch you all later <3
